island school

We homeschool on two islands – Prince Edward Island, Canada and Grand Cayman, BWI. This is our eleventh year, and I have 6 students plus one(neighbour)this year in grades 2,3,4,7,9,10/11,11/12. This year, as every other year brings its own challenges, not the least of which is how to keep everybody organized and happy!

I have only admiration for parents who homeschool. I find that my personal weaknesses are matched perfectly with the skills I need most for homeschooling! Many friends and relatives with kids in public/private schools are eminently better suited to this job, though I feel we have been called and therefore must bring ourselves ‘up’ to the task.

I’m hoping to share some practical help, as well as some philosophy and cultural/political news related to homeschooling.

As we are ‘Catholic Homeschoolers’, I will include some Catholic perspectives which I hope are at least interesting to others.

I’m also hoping to create some interactive pages, so wish me luck in adjusting to wordpress, and in the meantime, visit my ‘culture of life’ blog “island breezes”.
